OMReferral site of independent teachers of Transcendental Meditation - iTM

TM Transcendental Meditation is the scientifically most researched method of meditation. It is based on the teaching of Sri Vidya of Sri Brahmananda Saraswati, Shankaracharya of Jyotir Math (1941-1953). Sri Vidya - the path of supreme knowledge - unites different forms of Yoga with Advaita Vedanta. Swami Brahmananda was the spiritual teacher of Maharishi Mahesh Yogi, who personally trained and authorized the author of this website in India (1969) to teach Transcendental Meditation.

Maharishi Mahesh Yogi

It was in the sixties, when Maharishi Mahesh Yogi brought the programme of Transcendental Meditation - “TM” - to the western world. Approximately 5 Million people learned TM within the last decades. TM is the scientifically most researched meditation method. It is  easy to learn and the method is effortless. Transcendental Meditation shows positive effects on psychological, mental and physical health and well-being in a short time

All Independent teachers of Transcendental Meditation who participate in the International Network of independent TM-teachers founded in 2005, have completed their training and are authorised teachers of Transcendental Meditation.

With iTM-teachers the complete programme of Transcendental Meditation including Yoga-asanas, Pranayama, advanced techniques (fertilizer) and Sidhi-Programme can be learnt for quite acceptable course fees, considerably reduced compared to the fees charged by the “official TM-Organisation”.

Dipl.-Psych. T. Fehr* has been teaching Transcendental Meditation since his training and authorisation by Maharishi Mahesh Yogi (USA 1968; India: Delhi, Rishikesh and Kashmir 1969) in an unchanged manner and independent of TM-organisations and offering an acceptable relation of costs and service rendered.

Theo Fehr worked about one decade predominantly in researching, applicating and spreading TM. He was among the first researchers publishing studies concerning the psychological effects of TM. From 1972 to 1978 he was member of the board of a German research society the aim of which was to promote and support scientific studies of meditation in German universities and academies.

After taking up work in his own practice as a psychotherapist in 1979 he parted from all TM-organisations in 1988 because of their obvious sectarian conduct, their increasing deviation from the original teaching and because of the obvious gap between ambitious ideological concepts and lack of personal convincing representation.

Theo Fehr now looks back on four decades of teaching and researching TM and 30 years working as psychotherapist. He is still researching the effects of TM and publishing articles whereby the main emphasis during the last 15 years shifted towards the efficiency of TM in the therapy of physical and psychological complaints.
